How Close Do Foil Shavers Shave?
I'm thinking about switching from razor blades to an electric shaver, but do the foil ones shave close like the razors? And also which shaver is better the foil or the rotary?
Thanks in advance.

Foil shavers do not shave nearly as close as a blade. Rotary shavers do better for me than foil types but nothing beats a blade.
Since the foil shaver are as good as the foil that stick on your skin and the blade that rotating above it! it might be fairly well copy the cutting shear of a high quality razor blade (of course your electric foil shaver must be of high quality too) but since it has no power of fulling a little your hair out of its root but just directly cutting it above the foil! you will expect to have grown a beard in just a few hours the most.
This is one where brand makes all the difference.
I use and HIGHLY recommend the Panasonic shavers. The rotaries and all the ultra-high $ ones didn’t do well. Even if you switch, you still need to focus most of your time on preparation. Also, switching over will take a few weeks while your face gets used to the new shaver.
If you need to shave dry, cover your beard in baby powder. It will prevent major razor burn and help the razor glide smoothly over the skin. You will need to try a few brands before you find the one that works for you. I would suggest buying the models you like used on ebay. You can always clean and sterilize them with alcohol prior to use. That could save you a ton of money.
Often I will do both. I’ll shave first with a blade in the shower, and then go over it with the shaver. This makes my face baby smooth with no 5 o’clock shadow.
The link below is the model I use. It is wet-dry, has all the features of the Braun, and the blades, foils, and cleaning stuff are the most affordable out there. It is super quiet, super fast cutting, and holds a charge for 15 to 21 days.
